The amount of "self-help" modalities, books and resources has skyrocketed since I first studied kinesiology 20 years ago. Although I certainly see this as a positive thing, I am concerned that too many people have become focused only on what is "wrong" with them, with the expectation that with enough "work" they will finally be perfect. I hate to burst the bubble, but we are all here to make mistakes, learn and grow. We can always find something wrong or something that needs to be fixed or changed.

I offer this suggestion: spend some time focusing on the positive qualities that you already have, on what you are proud of or what you are good at. Give yourself a pat on the back each day ~ not from an ego place, but from an observation place. Be aware of your positive qualities, talents, values, abilities, passions, accomplishments.

OK, I'll start. I am proud of my ability to create beautiful jewelry. I love knowing that someone enjoys wearing something that I made. While beadweaving, I feel that I am in a calm, meditative state. It's so great for my soul! Even if I never wore, sold or gave away my jewelry, I would feel such a sense of peace doing something that I love.

If you like looking at jewelry, feel free to browse my web site at http://www.gingerbeaddesigns.etsy.com/

Now, tag...you're it. Tell me about what's "right" with you!

I feel compelled to write about a topic I stay away from ~ politics.

Having spent a delightful afternoon with a group of women, I was disturbed when the subject turned to the election and who everyone would be voting for. The assumption was that everyone in the room was of like mind. Well, the tally was 9 liberals and 1 conservative. The debate was heated, but civil, and neither party wanted to be open to what the other had to say. What I found disturbing is that we, not only as a country, but also as individuals are split down the middle. This divide is having a serious affect on our health - nationally and individually.

Let me talk about the midline of our body and why we have to find some "middle ground", so to speak. The midline of our body houses our essence, our spirit, our soul. This is where our passion lies; our enthusiasm and desire for life. Depression is on the rise and the first treatment choice seems to be a drug. What has been lost is a sense of self, a connection to the SOURCE and a connection to our purpose in life. Take this to a larger scale and that is what we are experiencing as a nation. We are so focused on Separation rather than Oneness.

When we become "split down the middle" or blocked along the midline, we are also at risk for serious midline dis-ease. Think about all of the glands and organs that reside in the middle of our body and reflect on the dis-eases that are a result of this energetic stagnation:

Reproductive organs: infertility, PMS, prostate problems, fibroids - to name a few;

Intestines: Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Constipation, Colitis, Ileitis - to name a few;

Stomach: Digestive problems, Hiatal Hernia, Acid Reflux, to name a few;

Heart and Lungs: Heart disease, Asthma;

Thyroid: Hypo and Hyper thyroid disease;

Sinuses: Sinus infections

Headaches: Migraines

Head, Neck, and Spinal Pain, Subluxations and Fixations, to name a few.

As individuals, we have to heal our midline, our spirit, our essence. The following is an exercise called "The Wounded Spirit" correction that gets the energy in the body flowing in a cross-patterning fashion, corrects any polarity reversals and connects us to our spirit.

1. Start with your feet together. 2. Bring the thumb of each hand to the baby fingernail. (like the girl scout or boy scout salute) 3. Place the 3 fingers on your forhead. 4. Bring your feet apart. 5. Bring your hands off of your forehead and massage under the clavicle bone. 6. When you are done, bring your feet together.

Try this exercise several times a day and feel the difference in your body. If nothing else, you will feel more grounded, more focused and more clear.
