Flower Essences for Caregivers

I am seeing more and more of my friends and family stepping up to the role of caregiver. This is not exclusive to caring for elderly parents, it is also supporting loved ones who are physically challenged because of surgery, a progressive disease or other difficulties. Many of my friends are also holistic health care providers and deal with intense emotional situations. And, included in the caring role are moms. It is the best and hardest job that we can have.

Regardless of what caring may look like for you, we can agree that it can be exhausting physically, mentally, emotionally and/or spiritually. The weight of responsibility is overwhelming.

The Australian Bush flower essence that I recommend and give to many of my professional friends is Alpine Mint Bush. Ian White writes in his book, Bush Flower Healing:

"The healing quality of this essence is to rejuvenate those                 people in service or who care and take responsibility for other         people."

The feedback that I get from those who are taking this flower essence is:

"I finally got a good night's sleep."

"I feel a sense of calm."

"I am realizing how tired I am and I am setting boundaries."

"Could you make me another bottle of the essence?"

Ian White lists the positive outcomes when taking Alpine Mint Bush as: revitalization, joy and renewal.

It's HOT, HOT, HOT!

This year in New England, summer came early with temperatures in June reaching the 90's and on June 24th, the temperature was 102 degrees! By June 28th, the temperature was 65 degree. Adjusting to wide temperature shifts is difficult and the heat can create serious physical body responses.

Heat Exhaustion symptoms to be aware of:

  • Weakness
  • Dizziness
  • Excessive sweating
  • Nausea
  • Headache
  • Rapid Pulse

Heat Stroke symptoms to be aware of:

  •  High body temperature above 104 degrees
  • Confusion
  • Agitation
  • Rapid pulse
  • Slurred speech
  • Loss of consciousness

An Australian Bush flower essence to have on hand is MULLA MULLA. This essence is made from the plant that is found in the desert in Central Australia, the hottest part of the continent. The Doctrine of Signatures of this plant speaks to Mulla Mulla being used for physical and/or emotional recovery from intense experiences caused by heat, burns and fire.

Taking the flower essence, will help rejuvenate your body and release trauma(s) associated with heat, the sun, sunburns, radiation and fire.

I order the Australian Bush essence stock bottles from Southern Herb:

Block Therapy

I have recently purchased the Block Therapy Starter Kit ( www.blocktherapy.com ) to address more fascia and pain release in my body due to being an athlete most of my life. I chose sports that resulted in various injuries: gymnastics, freestyle skating, ice dancing, skiing, windsurfing and more. On top of that I have had several brain injuries. I will be turning 71 in a week and I am still very active and know that this program will keep me fit, agile and able to keep up with my grandson! I have my season ski pass already and can't wait to see how block therapy improves my skiing.

Vagus Nerve Deck

I recently found the Vagus Nerve Deck with 75 exercises to reset your nervous system by Melissa Romano. This is well done and I am not only using the vagus nerve deck cards for myself but also include the cards and information with my clients.

Included in the deck of 75 cards are three categories of exercises: Vitality exercises; Calm exercises for relaxation and Connection exercises to feel a deeper sense of attunement with self and others.

Daily, I pick a card from each category and proceed to incorporate them into my day. The first card I chose was "focus on the exhale", which is interesting since I am doing Block Therapy (I will cover this in the next post) and the focus is on the exhale! I love synchronicity.
