Need a Boost?

Boost Essence is the name of a fairly recent Australian Bush Flower essence combination that Ian White has created. It's the one to grab when you feel out of sorts, overwhelmed, overly sensitive to people, energy and change. And, you want to feel calm and balanced, grounded, courageous and resilient.

The individual flower essences in this combination are quite powerful on their own. Together, they offer a great sense of relief when life pulls the rug out from underneath you.

Individual flower essences in Boost:

Bottlebrush for letting go;

Bush Iris for clearing blocks around trust;

Crowea for releasing worry and finding balance;

Dog Rose for confidence and Courage;

Fringed Violet for energetic protection;

Illawara Flame Tree for confidence and self-reliance;

Sturt Desert Pea for healthy grieving;

Sundew for grounding and staying in the present.

Are You Feeling Drained?

" Adulting" can be more challenging than we ever thought it would be. Right now things are feeling rather heavy, chaotic, draining, exhausting. I am hearing from clients and friends - in the 50+ age range - that childhood felt so simple and uncomplicated. Of course, life without cell phones, texts, emails, social media and 24/7 news was indeed simpler and we didn't know any differently.

I always love to discover a flower essence that can change the vibration of our thinking, feeling and perspective.

I recommend Devil's Club flower essence from Tree Frog Farm - www.treefrogfarm.com  This is a flower essence for the times that you feel weighted down and world-weary or feel that you carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. The affirmation from the flower:

"I am solace to those who are spiritually wounded and world-weary."

Green Hope Farm - www.greenhopeessences.com - offers Ragged Robin flower essence for the dark night of the soul. The flower offers:

"I AM order amidst chaos, the connective thread of light amidst significant upheaval. I AM one with the light."

The Australian Bush flower essence, Mint Bush, is the recommendation  "when you find yourself in a period of perturbation." (Ian White) The affirmations that Ian
suggests are:

"I am now navigating my spiritual initiation with clarity and smoothness."

"I am now letting go of all confusion and chaos in my life."

Resilience

 resilience /rĭ-zĭl′yəns/

noun

  1. The ability to recover quickly from illness, change, or misfortune.
  2. The act of springing back, rebounding or resiling.

 Last week I received many calls and texts from friends and clients who were having a difficult time recovering from overwhelm. I would put myself in that category, too. For many the varying weather conditions has been exhausting. For others: dealing with the exhaustion of caring for elderly family members, having to make a major life decision, needing to express emotions, recovering slowly from illness. These life events have made resilience challenging.

Flower essences to support resilience:

From Tree Frog Farm - www.treefrogfarm.com

Arnica flower essence for the "shocks' of life that often get trapped in the nervous, muscular and endocrine system. The flower affirmation:

"I am resilience during life's shocks, bumps and scrapes."

Ruby Hellebore
for resilience of the heart when experiencing sorrow, grief, hopelessness. The flower affirmation:

"I am courage and resilience during times of heartache and hopelessness."

From the Australian Bush Flower Essences - www.southernherb.com

Banksia Robur to enhance recuperation back to vitality and full strength again,
especially for those who are normally very dynamic. The flower affirmation:

"I now feel joy, energy and enthusiasm for life."

 Macrocarpa for physical strength, endurance and stamina. A wonderful support for the adrenal glands and other endocrine glands. The flower affirmation:

"I am now tapping into the unlimited energy source within me."

Can You Be Impartial?

 As a kinesiologist, I have to be impartial when working with a client. Impartial means that I have to be neutral, unbiased, unprejudiced. This is a difficult job if you are testing yourself or a friend or family member. It took me a year following certification to be able to work with friends and family without any expectation of the outcome of the session. I preferred testing a stranger.

If you are a beginner with muscle testing or still feel that you need more confidence in your ability to be impartial, I offer a few Australian Bush flower essences that might help.

Alpine Mint Bush is a support for any caregiver who is exhausted from the job and needs support. At the same time it is effective when you need to keep your issues separate from the person who you are helping.

Freshwater Mangrove helps suspend your preconceived ideas
so that you can be open to new perceptions or experiences.

Sturt Desert Rose supports you as you decide what is in your best interest away from bias, pressures and expectations.

Yellow Cowslip Orchid allows you the ability to stand aside from emotional issues and assess a situation objectively.

Break Family Patterns with Flower Essences

I just spent a weekend with a lot of family as we celebrated the birthday of the newest member who celebrated turning 2. When I get together with cousins and their kids and their kid's kids and my nieces and brother and sister-in-law, the stories start to flow along with plenty of laughs. The giggles often reflect the dysfunction that we all experienced in our not so perfect lives.

What I love about the work I do is helping people identify and clear these family patterns that no longer serve them. It is never about pointing fingers. It is about discovering the generational emotional and mental beliefs, fears, abuse patterns, cultural expectations and more that require releasing. On September 27, 2023, I wrote about ancestral math. I've added the image again because it shows how impossible it is to NOT have recurring familiar patterns. It's mind blowing!

One of my favorite flower essences from Australia for clearing negative patterns of the ancestors is from the BOAB tree. It is a huge tree with extensive roots in the ground that become tangled. Often there are younger Boab trees growing around it in a circular pattern. The smaller trees eventually get engulfed by, and merge into the older tree. This speaks to the theme of family enmeshment as does the tangled root system. This wonderful flower essence will clear karma and the negative energetic patterns that have traveled for many years through the ancestral line.

Ian White gives 3 affirmations for Boab in his book, Bush Flower Healing:

"I now release and clear all negative conditioning and family traits from my psyche."

"I create my own reality which is now free of all persecution and abuse."

"I now choose to fulfill my own destiny and not my family's."

I order my Australian Bush Flower essence stock bottles from: www.southernherb.com

Another flower essence to consider for clearing multi-generational patterns, especially experiences of abuse, trauma, alcoholism or prejudice, is Rose Campion. This is one of my favorite flowers and as I was dead-heading them today I could see the new growth as I cleared the old, dead flowers. How often does an older member of the family pass away as another one is being born?

Tree Frog Farm carries this flower essence and offers this affirmation:

"I am access to wisdom from a healed family, tribal, ethnic and racial lineage."

The Doctrine of Signatures of Plants

The Doctrine of Signatures of plants and flowers, which has been used for centuries, is nature's clue to it's healing properties. This includes:

  • The SHAPE of the plant or flower;
  • The SCENT;
  • The TASTE;
  • The GROWTH PATTERN: how it grows - is it low to the ground; does it have a great deal of height; does it grow in clusters;

  • The COLOR: red often suggests anger or energy, pink suggests a love vibration, yellow suggests mental level energy;
  • The NUMBER of petals: knowledge of numerology assists  with understanding the significance. Example: the number 5 has an emotional  component, the number 3 deals with the mental plane and imagination;

  • The SIZE;
  • The LOCATION: does it grow in the sun, shade, around or in moisture, in a dry area, in a mountain region, etc.;
  • The TOUCH/FEEL of the plant: is it soft, brittle, thorny.

Here is an example of Fringed Violet, an Australian Bush flower that creates an amazing essence - most popular with my clients:

Fringed Violet is about 5.5" with long, smooth stems;

The violet flower has 3 fringed petals which resemble the aura. One of it's main functions is to restore a person's aura after it has been damaged by shock or trauma;

Following any type of shock, illness, surgery, accident, bad news, etc., taking Fringed Violet helps the body go back to the time of the trauma and neutralize it.

It blooms in spring and summer and prefers sunny areas;

The purple flowers only open for a single morning!

Ian White says: "For some time after birth, a baby's aura is open. Putting a few drops of the Fringed Violet essence on the spot and making the sign of the cross over it will help to close the aura to negative influences."

Affirmations for Fringed Violet:

"My life force now radiates good health and vitality."

"I am balanced and integrated and have universal protection now."

The Wisdom and Healing of Plants

30 years ago my husband and I designed and built a house in the village that I grew up in on Cape Cod. We lived on a dirt road within walking distance to the center of town and enjoyed the peacefulness of our location.

My first priority was to begin establishing gardens around the property. I love to be outside, to get dirty and tend to plants and flowers. And, gardens have always been my place to go to regroup and get grounded after working with clients.

I had been using flower essences for healing for quite a few years at that point. I decided it was time to start a rose garden with the specific roses for cranial/sacral healing and balancing cerebral spinal fluid. Kinesiology had saved me from years of pain following a traumatic brain injury and the rose flower essences from Perelandra, LTD were supporting the continued progress.

I bought the roses and proceeded to muscle test them. I had hoped they would want to be out by the road as that would add a nice touch to the property. Well, they had other ideas for me. I muscle tested all the areas around the house and the exact spot where the roses wanted to go was where I would often sit and read. Such wisdom! Why would I put the roses away from the house where my body wasn't able to benefit from their healing energy?

I no longer live on Cape Cod. We designed and built a house in New Hampshire and once again, I have created gardens. I still muscle test any new plants that I either buy or receive and let them guide me as to where they would like to live. Sometimes I am surprised at their choices but I trust their wisdom.

How Do Flower Essences Work?

In previous blogs, I've discussed many different flower essences and you may wonder just how they affect each physical and subtle body levels. Below are three different descriptions of the healing power of flowers.

Dr. Edward Bach states the function of flower essences:

"They cure not by attacking disease but by flooding our bodies with beautiful vibrations of our higher nature in the presence of which disease melts as snow in the sunshine."

Gurudas, the author of Flower Essence and Vibrational Healing, describes the incredible effect flower essences have on the body:

  • When a flower essence is ingested or absorbed through the skin, it initially assimilates into the bloodstream;
  • It then settles midway between the circulatory and nervous systems;
  • Through an electromagnetic current created by the polarity of the above systems, the essence moves directly to the major meridians (energy pathways);
  • Through the pores of the meridians, the energy of the essence is amplified into the Chakras and various subtle bodies and then back again to the physical body.

Molly Sheehan of Green Hope Farm offers insight into flower essences:

"It is important to note that flower essences model an inclusive love of our whole self, not a paring away of all that the ego sees as negative. Flower essences reveal the goodness and light that always was out identity: they do not transform us into something brand new. You might say that flower essences are vibrational mirrors, reminding us of what we have long forgotten about ourselves - our complete Divinity."  ( www.greenhopeessences.com )

Animal Healing with Muscle Testing and Flower Essences

 In the 35 years as a Holistic Nurse and Kinesiologist, I have the great fortune of working with animals who are in need of healing. That includes dogs, cats, horses and even a falcon.

In fact, it was my aunt's dog, Baron, that lead the two of us into the holistic world and kinesiology or muscle testing. Baron had been having seizures and Sonja was directed to Lillian Poston, an RN and kinesiologist (who worked until she was about 92). It only took a few sessions before the seizures were no longer present! Sonja, also an RN, called me and asked me to go with her to California to study. Keep it mind, this was in the 1980s and holistic was not a word that was used or even understood. A modality like this was considered alternative, Woo Woo and a little crazy. But, when you know, you know. I had been looking for this kind of healing work but didn't know it existed. Sonja's goal was to work with animals and animals who needed care always found her.

 Most animals respond well to flower essences and gentle modalities. Often, the response is instant. They simply don't get in their way of healing.

Green Hope Farm - see my blog on April 25th - has an entire collection of flower essences for animals. Examples: Anxiety, Flee Free, Healthy Coat, Immune Support and others. www.greenhopeessences.com

 A book I recommend, written by Marie Matthews, is Animal Healing with Australian Bush Flower Essences. It is a terrific resource as she breaks down different healing challenges into chapters with extensive explanations of the flower essences used and why they are prescribed. Examples: Communication and Training, Overcoming Fear, Ageing, Slowing Down, Physical Ailments and more.

Isopogon - A Flower Essence for Memory

       We learn wisdom from failure much more than success - Samuel Smiles

Isopogon is a flower found in Australia and one of the individual Australian Bush flower essences.

Isopogon is a flower remedy for people who live in their head and are dominated by their intellect. And, a positive outcome when taking this remedy is a greater connection between your head and your heart.

When you feel that you have not learned from the mistakes of the past, Isopogon is a wonderful essence to not only retrieve forgotten skills, but also to learn from past experiences.

Ian White writes in his book, Bush Flower Essences, "this remedy has also helped those suffering from senility, Alzheimer's disease and poor memory, but may need to be taken on and off for a few month."

 The affirmations given for Isopogon are:

"I now learn from my experiences."

"I now relate to others with understanding and flexibility."

"I now have access to my skills, whenever they are needed."

Green Hope Farm Flower Essences

I am so fortunate to have found the highest quality flower essences from various places in the world. Green Hope Farm happens to be in my state of New Hampshire and produces more flower essences than I can count. I have included these remedies with my business for over 20 years and clients continue to rave about their healing experiences.

I encourage you to visit the website - www.greenhopeessences.com - and utilize the wealth of information that is written about each flower essence as well as the story behind each collection. Molly Sheehan's blogs are incredibly informative and an adventure to read. She and her staff are so helpful if you have a question. I also think they are all angels. I'll tell you why.

10 years ago my cousin's son was in a hit and run accident and left at the side of the road for 16 hours, paralyzed from the waist down! When his grandmother (my aunt, Sonja, who I traveled with studying kinesiology) called to tell me what had happened, I immediately started muscle testing to see how I could help him. A flower essence combination called Run and Play came up. I couldn't imagine sending that with the possibility that he might not walk again. I researched each individual flower essence in the combination and knew that I had to get that remedy. I contacted Molly to order it and explained what had happened. The next day (angels helping?) I received a box from Green Hope Farm with 8 flower essences in it with no extra charge!! It was an amazing, thoughtful gift and one that the whole family was grateful for. I have never forgotten the generous contribution that Molly and her staff made.

And now, 10 years later, Matt is married, an occupational therapist, an adaptive skier and the kindest soul.

The photo above is from the Animal Wellness Collection at Green Hope Farm. They love animals and have created a set of flower essences to help any animals you may have who need some assistance. The flower essence that is sold the most from this collection is ANXIETY. It is an essence for humans and pets and greatly needed.

In the next blog, I will introduce another company selling wonderful flower essences for healing.

Space Clearing

It finally looks and feels like spring despite an early April snowstorm here in New Hampshire. My daffodils have popped, the lilac tree has buds and the birds are making nests and singing.

I am looking forward to opening all of the windows and clearing the energy out of the house. Everything smells so much better once that is done. Obviously, throughout the year there are times we can't open the windows. You can always smudge but you may not like the smell or the smoke.

Another option that I use in between clients is the Australian Bush Space Clearing mist. This mist includes the Australian Bush individual flower essences: Angelsword, Boab, Fringed Violet, Lichen and Red Lily - a delightful and healing blend. Space Clearing can be used for any situation that has created negative energy or simply to energize any room or space.

I order all of my Australian Bush individual flower essences, combination flower essences such as Emergency, Focus, etc. and the various mists from a wonderful company:
